Volunteer Leaders

Marisa Derby & Brandee Modgling

Marisa serves as our Church Administrator, and Brandee is our Administrative Assistant. Together, they work as a team to support our church’s operations by managing volunteer coordination. They handle tasks such as sending volunteer contact information to ministry leaders, processing background checks for specific ministries, and organizing and scheduling volunteers for weekly positions. Their efforts ensure that everything runs smoothly and that all volunteers' needs are met. Marisa and Brandee are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to reach out to them for assistance or clarification on volunteer opportunities and scheduling!

serve our community

New Beginnings Children's Home Ministry

Vista has launched a ministry at the New Beginnings Children's Home, with a heartfelt mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the foster children currently residing there. These children, ranging from middle to high school age, have already endured abuse, neglect, pain, and rejection in their short lives. Our goal is to come alongside them, offering the love, compassion, and hope of Jesus through meaningful connections. We invest time in building genuine relationships, offering them a new perspective—one rooted in the love and grace of Christ.
Each month, we gather with the children to create lasting, positive memories by hosting events such as game nights, movie nights, karaoke sessions, water days, family-style dinners, and other activities that bring them a sense of normalcy and joy. Through these experiences, we aim to provide not just fun, but also a sense of stability and love they can hold onto.

Food Drive

We have partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) and First Baptist Church of Castroville to distribute food to those in need. This is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in our community on the 2nd Wednesday and 3rd Tuesday of each month. If you are in need of food assistance, you can register to receive support from the SAFB truck by calling the San Antonio Food Bank at 210-431-8326.

Love INC

Love In the Name of Christ is a national movement mobilizing local churches to transform their communities. The body of Christ is God’s answer to community brokenness and a part of His plan of redemption and restoration. That’s why we work with Love INC, as they mobilize local churches to offer a holistic approach to caring for people in all areas of life: spiritual, mental, emotional, relational, material, and physical.
